We recently presented our balcony must-haves. This time around, we will still go outdoor, but we will be talking to those who are longing of a real outdoor-home-feeling. We are going camping! Together with Amazon, we looked for handy gadgets and tools that might not be part of your standard camping equipment just yet. Here they come, our recommendations for your big, small, wild and top-organized outdoor trips.
The tough tool from Steinbock7 is worn like a bracelet but doubles as a whistle, flint, knife and paracord. Para what? A parachute cord (short version: paracord) is a parachute line. The bracelet is braided from a nylon thread and can be used as an emergency cord. With the included instructions, you’ll have the right knot ready for any occasion in no time. You will also be able to lit an impressive campfire, carve sticks for marshmallow barbecuing, and use the whistle if the others can’t find you in the dark.
To balance the adventure tool with a bit of romance, we recommend you the LED Outdoor Light Hose from Power Practical for balmy evenings in the camping chair. It is available in 1.5 to 3 meter lengths and doesn’t need to be plugged to a power source as it quickly charges via USB connection. The “Luminoodle” can be easily attached to a tree, above the tent or to the trunk of the camper to light up our summer nights.
When you think of camping equipment you picture metal, boring designs? Better get creative, starting for example with the camping tableware. YTLEMON’s set is beautifully designed in pastel colours and combines all the features we love: It’s made from eco-friendly wheat straw, rinses well, is lightweight and sturdy. It contains bowls, plates, cutlery and drinking cups – the camping table will be set in no time. A feast for the eyes!
Of course, camping is never boring and especially the little ones will always find something exciting to experience on their own. However, better be prepared for a car ride that takes a bit longer than usual or for a little one having a hard time falling asleep. But well, we grown-ups might also enjoy searching in the colourful pictures for tents, animals and cars.
Let’s move on to some relaxation, but space-saving please. Since not everything can always be folded up to the smallest size, we are looking for things that can quickly fit underneath the car seat. One must-have: the inflatable outdoor sofa by JSVER, which not only looks good at the campsite, but is also a great accessory for the beach. It deflates as easily as it inflates and can be transported like a small bag. All it takes to set it up is a bit of wind or a few quick steps with a bit of arm power!
If you’re not staying at a campsite but heading out into the wild, you won’t find any sanitary facilities. Don’t worry, we got you covered. With the solar-powered shower by KIPIDA you can take a shower or rinse the sand off your SUP board. It has a capacity of 20 litres, a shower head with on/off switch and even a water temperature display. Of course, there are different colours to choose from, and yes, it folds up small and is therefore super practical.
Now that you’ve had a refreshing shower, you need a towel, of course. Save yourself the rookie mistake of packing your thick terry towels: grab a couple of the microfibre towels by Amazon Basics. They are light, thin and take up hardly any space at all. Available in different sizes and colours, you’ll be perfectly prepared for the beach day as well as the laundry day.
The best camping dinner will always be a chicken noodle pot, right? Just kidding! We do recommend tasty tins of stew, but not for your dinner, rather as a safe hiding place. The Plastic Fantastic safe can be used to store money, valuables and cards, so you can leave for your daytrip and don’t have to worry about anything. Chilli con carne, chicken rice casserole or lentil stew will keep thieves away and fit perfectly into your camping stash.
